Projects are what the Trout Conservancy is all about. Our projects enhance, restore and protect trout habitat, They are on-the-ground and provide tangible results that will still deliver long after most of us are gone. Here is a sampling of our project work...

Belmont Creek in the Blackfoot drainage - Our first stream restoration project, July 2002, designed and built by Jo Christensen of the BLM with David Sturman's draft horses.

We funded the creation of debris jams in Chamberlain Creek in the Blackfoot drainage - debris jams form pools, provide shelter and collect food;, July 2003, again with the design of Jo Christensen of the BLM Placing habitat structures in main stem Lolo Creek at the Earl Tennant site, August 2005, with Ladd Knotek of Montana FWP and Traci Sylte, Lolo NF.

Creating new channel within Elms Park in Missoula, Montana's Pattee Creek - March 2005. Pattee Creek is home to native westslope cutthroat trout.
We funded this new culvert replacement on Midas Creek, Kootenai National Forest in summer 2006 - the new culvert is big enough to restore year-round passage to spawn sites for redband trout, cutthroats and bull trout. We funded the #557 culvert replacement in upper Lolo Cr., eliminating a fish passage barrier - done 2008, with Lolo NF, part of USFS's Upper Lolo Creek Watershed Restoration

Created debris jam for enriching habitat for wild salmon and steelhead, Hughes Creek, Idaho in August 2009, again with Jo Christensen and David Sturman Planting willows and other native riparian plants in rip-rap along lower Lolo Creek, March 2010, with a "stinger" unit mounted on an excavator.
